DBA3803/DSC3216 Predictive Analytics in Business [2220]
The objective of this course is to develop an understanding of forecasting as a common tool for solving business problems. We will use the Python programming language. Do you have curiosity? Are you a fixer? Have you an instinct to integrate while observing? An innate love of programming is necessary. It will not be possible to contrive a liking for attention to details — such focus is needed to enjoy and master the software coding involved. You need to be habitually and reflexively asking, “I wonder what will happen if I change this bit …” You must be logical and love to tinker. You should not be pernickety and expect programming to be offered in a neat package for exam study. You should be good at researching and reading official Python documentations. You should not need to ask, “… but how can this model be used in business?” You should not be thinking “I will never ever bump into this stuff again!” You should not be one who has no interest in learning from other groups’ Project presentations during the last class. You must bring a functional laptop computer to every class and have one for every assignment & project. Expect poor course result if you can’t fit the prototype. If you are prepared: welcome! Let’s pull together in this perspective-changing slog! You will be equipping to lead in digital conversations. 😊
