PH3246 Paradoxes [2220]

A paradox, as we’ll understand the term, is an argument that begins from premises that seem clearly true... proceeds by reasoning that seems clearly valid... and arrives at a conclusion that seems clearly false. Paradoxes can be fun and perplexing, and historically, they have been associated with revolutionary advances in thought. This class will examine several of the most interesting philosophical and mathematical paradoxes, virtually all of which are regarded as unsolved, in the sense that there is no single widely accepted solution. We will try our best to solve them together.
