Inbox
Overview
Inbox can be used as an email system within Canvas. Inbox is a two-way messaging platform that may be used to connect with a course, a group, or a single user instead of email. At any time, you can communicate with students enrolled in your course. Unlike announcements, the inbox feature lets you converse with specific people in the course. Although you have a single inbox for all of your courses, there is a feature that allows you to filter them by course and section.
The CANVAS Inbox is useful in the following ways,
- Send a group or individual message to your pupils with critical information.
- Allows students to privately communicate with you via Canvas.
- Users are notified by email when a message has been received.
The following is a partial list of what Instructors can do using the Canvas Inbox tool:
- Discuss a student's performance or other aspects of their work in private.
- Arrange a meeting with a student during office hours.
- Give a selected group of students ongoing feedback on their project. Please read article, "How do I send a message to all course users in the Inbox as an instructor?" Links to an external site. to learn more about sending messages to selected group of students.
- Communication with Teaching Assistants on course design and facilitation tactics.
On Canvas, the "Inbox" button is present in the Global Navigation bar.
